Committee Update:

For those of you who will be in town for Reunions Weekend this year, be sure to stop by the newly renovated Cavalier Daily offices for an Open House from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, June 3. Then, before you head out of town Sunday, June 4, drop by Garden IX between 9 a.m. and noon for the CDAA’s annual "Come as You Go Brunch." There will be plenty of great food to send you off.

Also, you’ll want to come down to Charlottesville for the reunion of the millennium Sept. 22-24, 2000 (See Reunion info page).

As always, if there is anything you would like to see planned, don’t hesitate to email me at apb2d@virginia.edu. We hope to see you soon.

This year’s Reunions Weekend was a success as always – a special thanks to everyone who found time to stop by our brunch. If, however, you missed that opportunity to catch up with your old CD friends, there are several more opportunities on the horizon.

Everyone is invited to the annual Cavalier Daily Alumni Association Homecoming Brunch, which will be held in its usual Garden IX location from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 18. Be sure to stop by, catch up with other former staff members and grab a bite to eat before the Cavaliers take on Wake Forest.

The 1999 fall CDAA board meeting is slated for Sunday, Oct. 3 at 10 a.m. in the Newcomb Hall South Meeting Room. Please come and voice your opinions about upcoming events and the CDAA in general.

If you have any questions about any of the upcoming events or would like to make a suggestion, feel free to contact me, via email, at apb2d@virginia.edu. We look forward to seeing you.

The CDAA is already planning its events for the upcoming year and into the year 2000. In addition to hosting a reunion in May 2000 (See Reunion), this year we will be holding our spring meeting April 18, our annual Reunions Open House and "Come as You Go Brunch" events on June 5-6, as well as the 1999 fall meeting and homecoming brunch. We hope to see you at some, or all, of the events!

Reunions Weekend 1998 was filled with activities for Cavalier Daily alumni, starting with the annual CD Open House from noon to 5 p.m. on Friday, June 5. We tried something new this year—a Bar Night at the Biltmore Grill Friday night, which was fun, if crowded. If you were there and we did not see you, please accept our apologies! We are going to keep working on this concept, and give it another whirl next year.

The annual Reunion Brunch on Sunday was its usual success, with lots of representation from the classes of 1988 and 1993.

If you have yet to make it to one of the Homecoming or Reunions Weekend CDAA brunches, you’ll have another opportunity this fall (See the discussion board for up-to-date information). Come join us!

Homecoming 1997 found about 50 members of the Cavalier Daily Alumni Association and the current CD staff in the Garden of Pavilion X for the Sixth Annual CDAA Homecoming Brunch.

Unexpectedly hot and sunny, the day provided a great chance for alums to get caught up, as well as get acquainted with current staff members.

The prize for the oldest alum attending goes to Doug Garrou (1988), but more significant attention was given to Sheri Miltenberger Garrou, who was sporting a set of Garrou twins on the way!

If you have yet to attend one of the CDAA Homecoming brunches, try to make it this fall—Regency Catering does an outstanding job with the food and drink, and the company is always entertaining. We would love to see you.

If you happen to be in Charlottesville before Homecoming 1998 (Reunions Weekend, for example), please stop by and see us.

If you have questions about any of the upcoming events, or would like to make an events-related suggestion, please do not hesitate to contact me, via e-mail, at Diane.DeBerry@ us.coopers.com. I look forward to hearing from you!
